[NUMBER 230] 230 PAINTED LIMOGES ENAMEL PLAQUES OF CHRIST AND THE VIRGIN FRENCH, 16TH CENTURY By Leonard Limosin. Composition of two plaques in one frame. At the right, under an arcade, the bust of Christ in profile to the left, the shoulders and robes of blue and orchid, his hair surrounded by a halo of gold. At the left the Virgin, with a dark blue mantle covering her head and shoulders. Beneath are two plaques of black enamel with gilded enrichment, the frame with plaques of rose-colored enamel with gilded scrolls of a later date.
